Our Director
Sandy is a nationally recognized speaker and advocate for change that benefits all people. She shares her expertise on topics including a Paradigm for Transforming Individuals, Communities, Systems, and Beyond. Sandy also engages communities and organizations with impactful presentations, services, and guidance on optimizing societal outcomes.
Beyond her global impact, Sandy remains deeply committed to local, regional, and national efforts. She recently earned a Woman of the Year Award both in her city and from congressman John Garamendi.
She’s also an accomplished author who shares her powerful message of respect and cultural awareness through her stories.
Sandy received her BA in Psychology from UC Davis and a MS in School Counseling, with a focus on Education from California State University, Sacramento.

Sandy's book, Grandpa, Is Everything Black Bad? was awarded the 2002 Blackboard Children's Book of the Year Award. Blackboard recognizes African Americans and their bestselling works as part of its mission to support Black writers, booksellers, and publishers.

Sandy has been recognized for her multicultural work within children's literature. Additionally, Sandy is the first self-published author to be recognized for her work at Book Expo New York.

The Ida B. Wells Risk Taker Award is awarded by the National Alliance of Black School Educators. The award intends to recognize those who have undertaken a professional and personal sacrifice for the educational advancement of African Americans.

Impact DOCS recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Documentaries were received from 30 countries, including veteran award winning filmmakers and fresh new talent. Entries were judged by highly qualified and award winning professionals in the film and television industry.
In winning an Impact DOCS award, The Culture C.O. O.P. joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award including the Oscar winning director Louie Psihoyos for his 2016 Best of Show – Racing Extinction, Oscar winner Yael Melamede for (Dis)Honesty – The Truth About Lies, and Emmy Award winner Gerald Rafshoon for Endless Corridors narrated by Oscar winner Jeremy Irons, and many more.
